Seen in Google but nobody clicks: how to improve your click through rate
If a page shows up in Google often but rarely gets clicked, the fix is usually the title and description, plus a reason to click that the search results cannot give away. Rewrite the title so it answers the search directly with a specific detail such as a price, timeline or location, write a description that says what the visitor gets on the page, and add something worth clicking for, like a price table, checklist or calculator. Then leave it for about four weeks before judging the result.
Why it happens
Your title may describe the page instead of answering the search. A competitor may show a price or a number you do not. And when Google shows an AI Overview, many people get their answer without clicking, so the remaining clicks go to results that promise something more.
Rewrite the title and description
- Lead with the answer or the specific: "Kitchen renovation in Toronto: from $25,000, 6 to 10 weeks".
- Keep the words people already search with, so you do not lose clicks you have.
- Write the description as a promise of what is on the page, with one concrete detail.
- Check the page itself delivers what the new title promises.
Give a reason to click
An AI summary can repeat a fact. It cannot hand over your full price list, a checklist someone can print, a calculator that uses their numbers, or a booking calendar. Add one of these near the top of the page and mention it in the description.
How to judge the change
- Note the page's clicks, impressions and click rate before the change.
- Wait about 28 days so the comparison is fair.
- Compare the same length of time before and after.
- If nothing moved, try a different angle once, then add substance to the page itself.
Pages to skip
Blog index, category and tag pages are not worth rewriting for clicks. If they appear for real questions, those questions deserve an answer on a proper page.

Questions
What is a good click through rate in Google?
It depends on your position, the search and whether an AI Overview appears. Compare a page against itself over time and against your other pages at similar positions.
Will changing my title hurt my rankings?
It can if you drop the words that already bring clicks, or move the page onto a topic another of your pages owns. Keep the working terms and check for overlap first.
Can you rewrite titles and descriptions for us?
Yes. At ether., SEO and AI search consulting starts at C$450 a month and title rewrites are usually the first fix.
