How to write ad copy that turns clicks into customers
Good ad copy matches the moment the buyer is in, leads with the offer and the price, and promises exactly what the landing page delivers. With the same budget, audience and bids, the words in an ad can decide whether it brings enquiries or only clicks. Write for one buyer and one offer at a time, put the most specific detail first, and test different angles against each other instead of rewording the same idea.
Match the moment
A search ad meets someone describing their problem right now, so it should repeat their words and answer them. A social ad interrupts someone who is not looking yet, so it needs a reason to stop scrolling: a scene, a result or a question they recognise. The same line rarely works in both places.
Lead with the specific
- The offer: what they get, in plain words.
- The price or starting price, when you can show it.
- Who it is for, so the right people click and the wrong ones skip.
- The next step: book, call, get a quote, see availability.
Vague lines such as "quality service you can trust" give the reader nothing to act on. A weekday price, a location and a booking link do.
Make the page agree with the ad
The landing page headline should say what the ad said. If the ad promises a price, the page shows it in the first screen. If the ad speaks to a specific buyer, the page does too. When the ad and the page disagree, people leave and the platform charges you more for the next click.
Test angles, then words
- Write two or three different angles: price, outcome, experience or urgency.
- Run them against each other with the same audience and budget.
- Keep the winner, then test smaller changes inside it.
- Judge by enquiries, not by click rate alone.

Questions
How long should ad copy be?
As short as it can be while still naming the offer, the price or proof, and the next step. Search ads have fixed character limits; social ads can run longer if every line earns its place.
How often should I change my ad copy?
Review it monthly and refresh it when results drop for two weeks in a row or the audience has seen it too many times.
Do you write ad copy and creative?
Yes. At ether., ad creative packs start at C$350, with copy and images built for each platform.
